Ask your child about playing “Collect 20 Together” and building “Staircases” in math, reading How Full is Your Bucket and interviewing a new friend, and writing stories in our writing binders!
This week we learned what a habit was to prepare for learning about the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. We listed "good" and "bad" habits. Next week we will focus on Habit 1- Be Proactive.
Reading at home is very important! Please record any reading you do at home and turn in the reading log once it is filled up! Your child may turn in as many reading logs a month as they would like! Once they get to 200 books, I will treat them to pizza for lunch. Beginning in September, we will also participate in the Book-It program: each month your child turns in a reading log, they will get a certificate for a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut!
Please send in headphones or ear buds for your child to use with the technology in our classroom.
Beginning next week, we will have 25 minutes of extra P.E. every Tuesday. Your child will need to wear tennis shoes that day as well as on Friday when we have P.E. during special class time.
Students checked out books from the Library this week. Students should bring their books to return or re-check every Thursday!
I am sending home the district 1st quarter sight word list. Your child should be able to read these words quickly and correctly (no “sounding out”). I would suggest making flash cards and reading them “out of order” so they are not just memorizing the order of the list. If you need index cards to make flash cards with, let me know and I will be happy to send some home with your child!
