Math
Topic 4 math test will be Monday, November 21st. We have gone over the study guide in class and will be sending it home to show you what they have learned. Take a moment to look it over with them, sign it, and send it back to school. They will get to clip up if they bring it back on Monday signed by you.
Science
Native Americans is the topic this week. We have been studying the Native Americans of the Plain and Eastern Woodlands. Each table was assigned a topic (food, shelter, family responsibilities, and animals) that were important to the tribes. They drew pictures and presented what they learned to the rest of the class.
Writing
We started writing a book on landforms (caves, volcanoes, valleys, islands, and mountains). As we write these informational books we are focusing on some of the text features like table of contents, bolded words for a glossary, headings for each chapter, captions, diagrams, and labels.
Reading
Over the next couple of weeks we will be practicing reading assessments to prepare us to take the final reading assessments. The students will read a passage and answer questions about the main idea of the text.
Important Dates:
November 15: 2nd grade music program
November 23-25: No School (Thanksgiving Break)
November 29: Shoe Boxes for Soldiers items due
December 21: Christmas Party and half day
