Happy Veterans Day
Thank you to all our veteran families for joining us at our breakfast and assembly today. We are grateful for the service you have given to our country! Thank you to the families that helped set up and brought in items for the breakfast. We appreciate you too! Our 2nd graders sang a beautiful song to the veterans that you will get to hear again next week at our 2nd grade music program.
Math
Check mastery connect for updated scores. I have entered a few classroom assignments. These classroom assignments are very guided. As the students work in class I circle ones they have missed and help them try again until they show understanding. When you go through their folder, look for their math assignments. If you see a bunch of circles on their paper that is a good indication that they might need a little more help at home. Last week I sent home a letter with a link that will allow you to look at the lessons we have been covering. That way you can know the strategies we are teaching them.
Science
Simple Machines continues ... and today we will take the catapults we made and launch a few marshmallows to see how far they go. Ask your kids to show you their catapults and have them tell you which simple machine a catapult uses.
Writing
We are almost finished with our animal writing.
Reading
We introduced and practiced steps to explain the purpose of an informational text. Here are the steps:
